  perhaps this is naive of me-

  so about a month ago, i finally "confessed" to my jw friend that my husband and i haven't been to a meeting since february.

  we're in different halls, so she wasn't aware of our inactivity.

  when i told her, i didn't explain any details about what lead us to stop going, other than the normal "we're confused- so much going on, new baby, etc" stuff.

  I have been through exactly what you're going through - one by one all my closest friends have withdrawn their friendship from me and my family - we thought they loved us unconditionally and I think they thought that too but they are under mind control and are to be pitied - they have not stopped loving you, they are very likely feeling the pain of the loss of you (one friend said to me I'd died and that she was grieving me).
  
  If you openly criticise the org, you will get labelled an apostate - you are doing the right thing by being a vague as possible. But then I think you realise this.
  
  You are about to experience a very painful time - who knows how long it will last - there are no shortcuts out of this unfortunately. However, you are experiencing the pain not only yourself but also on behalf of your children who will never have to go through the same pain and you will come out of this a stronger person.
  
  Be prepared though. You may never see or speak to these friends ever again. They really have no ability to deal with anyone who stops going as it threatens their whole belief system and way of life. However, you will make new friends over time - maybe not as many, maybe huge amounts more but when you do these ones will like/love you for who you truly are and not for who they want you to be.
  
  This site is an amazing place and I have been blessed with some very special relationships (one in particular) that I would gladly sacrifice quite a few of those conditional friendships for and I'm sure it will be the same for you in time.

  let me begin by saying that i never expected to even talk about my situation let alone discuss it on the internet but i guess im just feeling so sad that i must hope that someone will understand and give me encouragement...so here it goes.. .

  but the more active i got, the more abusive my stepmother became.

  ironically, he sent my stepmother to the wedding.

  You are incredibly brave and courageous for standing up for what you believe and for being true to yourself. You are a woman of integrity and when your children arrive you will be an amazing mother, in spite of your parents' example and especially because of your experience.
  
  You are an example to all of us of how it is possible to be strong and how not to give in to the emotional blackmail of those closest to us who are able to inflict so much pain on us.
  
  They are unaware that they are practicing psychological torture on us - being under mind control none of the normal rules of life apply. All we can do is hope that one day they will come to their senses. They will deeply regret what they have done if ever that day arrives.
  
  In the meantime it is very much their loss.
  
  Live a wonderful, happy successful life - it is the best antidote. It sounds like you have a wonderful man to help you through the bad times and we are all here for you when you need to pour your heart out.

  i have thought about this for a few days.

  i used to think that while they were in some ways controlling, that jw's did not meet the criteria of a cult totally.

  My husband and I delivered our DA letter last night. . .

  that is, letter of disassociation and denunciation, i like that word.

  .in person in the door of one of our ex-elders and via email to him and a few others.

  there was an added level of peace in doing that, which neither of us expected.

  You can just all the child molesters encouraging one another to join up and become a Witness because "if you ever get caught - plead guilty, say you're a Witness having therapy and you'll get LET OFF!"

  Kiwi Apostate Invades Europe

  hi guys and girls,.

  i will be taking a much needed holiday in denmark (jutland), london, amsterdam and switzerland (basel) starting next week.. most of my time will be with my jw son and my two granddaughters in denmark.. it would be nice to run into a few fellow apostates on my trip.. cheers.
